Precision Under Pressure: Introducing Reynolds ATR Athlete Justin McQuerry
At Reynolds, performance has never been defined by a single metric. It is not just about weight, stiffness, or speed in isolation. True performance is the result of balance. Precision. Consistency. The ability to deliver, not just once, but ride after ride, under any condition.

It is a philosophy that extends beyond our products.

It is why Justin McQuerry feels like such a natural part of the Reynolds story.

A Complete Athlete
Based in Austin, Texas, Justin McQuerry is a professional cyclist specializing in off-road endurance racing. His path to gravel success was not linear. Earlier in his career, Justin competed internationally on the road, building a foundation of speed, race craft, and discipline before ultimately finding his stride in gravel.

Since making that transition, he has lined up at some of the most demanding events in the world, including Unbound 200 and the UCI Gravel World Championships. His results speak for themselves, but what sets Justin apart is not just where he races. It is how he races.

Measured. Adaptable. Relentless.

A complete athlete in every sense.

Performance, Redefined
Justin’s approach to cycling is shaped by something far greater than competition alone.

Living with Type 1 diabetes, every training session and race requires an additional layer of precision. Nutrition, effort, recovery, and blood glucose management must all work in harmony. There is no margin for guesswork.

Where others rely on instinct alone, Justin operates with a deeper level of awareness and control.

What could be seen as a limitation has instead become a defining strength.

It has forced the development of a racing style built on discipline, adaptability, and resilience — qualities that translate directly into performance at the highest level of the sport.

That mindset has led to historic achievements, including becoming the first and only male athlete from the USA with Type 1 diabetes selected to a national team, representing the United States at the UCI Gravel World Championships in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

A Shared Philosophy
At its core, Justin’s approach to cycling mirrors the Reynolds approach to engineering.

There are no shortcuts.

Every detail matters. Every variable is considered. Every decision is made with long-term performance in mind.

Reynolds wheels are not built to impress for a single ride. They are engineered to deliver consistent, reliable performance over time. To perform when conditions are unpredictable. To hold their integrity when the terrain turns demanding.

Justin rides with that same philosophy.

Not chasing moments, but building outcomes.

Built for the Long Haul
In competition, Justin relies on Reynolds ATR wheels, designed for the demands of modern gravel racing. Lightweight, aerodynamic, and built to handle the unpredictable nature of endurance events, they provide the speed and control required when races stretch beyond the horizon.

In training, he turns to the recently launched Reynolds G30 alloy wheels, a platform built with the same performance intent, offering durability and consistency for the countless hours that happen away from race day.

Together, they form a system that supports the full spectrum of his riding. From preparation to performance.

Reynolds is proud to collaborate alongside State Bicycle Co., working together to provide Justin with the tools he needs to compete at the highest level.

More Than Competition
Justin McQuerry’s story is about more than results.

Through his racing, he represents what is possible for those living with Type 1 diabetes, showing that elite performance and chronic condition management are not mutually exclusive. His presence at the front of the race is not just a personal achievement, but a signal to a much broader community.

That precision, that resilience, that refusal to compromise.

It is something we recognize.

It is something we believe in.

And it is exactly why Justin McQuerry is a Reynolds athlete.
