Designed to Evolve: Introducing Reynolds ATR Athlete Maaike Coljé
At Reynolds, performance is never static. It is a process. A constant refinement. A balance between efficiency, control, and adaptability, shaped over time through experience, iteration, and intent. The same can be said for Maaike Coljé.

A Different Path, A Complete Athlete
Maaike Coljé’s journey into professional cycling is anything but conventional. Before committing to the bike, she spent years in speed skating and inline skating, developing a deep endurance engine and a disciplined approach to performance. It wasn’t until 2019 that she fully turned her focus to cycling. From there, progression came quickly. Following her studies in Product Design Engineering, Maaike signed her first professional contract in 2021, marking the start of a career that has already seen her compete at the highest level of road cycling. But like all great athletes, she continued to evolve. For 2026, Maaike steps into a new chapter, fully committing to gravel racing, bringing with her the depth, structure, and experience of WorldTour-level competition.

Where Performance Meets Freedom
For Maaike, gravel is more than a discipline. It is a return to something more fundamental. A connection to the environment. A sense of exploration. A space where endurance, instinct, and technical ability intersect in their purest form. Gravel racing offers a different kind of challenge. Less predictable. Less controlled. More demanding in its totality. It rewards riders who can adapt, who can read terrain, and who can manage effort over long, unforgiving distances. It is a discipline that suits Maaike’s mindset perfectly. Measured. Curious. Always progressing.

A Shared Way of Thinking
Maaike’s background in product design engineering shapes the way she approaches cycling. She understands that performance is rarely defined by a single component. It is the result of how materials, systems, and small details work together. How marginal gains accumulate into meaningful advantages. That perspective aligns naturally with Reynolds. Our wheels are not designed in isolation. Every carbon layup, every profile, every detail is studied to achieve a precise balance of lightweight construction, power transfer, compliance, and durability. It is not about chasing extremes. It is about creating something complete. Maaike approaches her riding the same way. Always refining. Always learning. Always looking for that next layer of performance.

Built for the Long Haul
Gravel racing, at its highest level, is as much a test of equipment as it is of the athlete. Long distances. Unpredictable terrain. Mechanical fatigue that builds hour after hour. In that environment, one principle becomes clear: You cannot win the races you do not finish. As Maaike takes on a demanding 2026 calendar aboard the Pinarello DOGMA F and DOGMA GR, her setup is built around that reality. For racing, she relies on the Reynolds ATR carbon wheels, delivering the speed, efficiency, and control required at the front of elite competition. For training and high-volume riding, she turns to the Reynolds G30 alloy wheels, engineered to endure the miles while maintaining consistent ride quality. Both are built with the same Reynolds philosophy. Durability without compromise. Because in gravel racing, strength is not optional. It is fundamental. The ability to withstand impacts, fatigue, and the unknown is what ensures a rider can stay in the race. And when that durability is paired with elite-level performance, it does more than guarantee a finish. It creates the opportunity to compete for the win. Reynolds wheels are not a trade-off between strength and speed. They are an investment in both. Ride after ride. Race after race. Season after season.

Progression as a Goal
For Maaike, 2026 is about progression. Stepping into the gravel scene. Building experience. Refining her strengths. Testing herself against the best in the world. With key targets including The Traka, The Rift, and the Gravel Earth & UCI Gravel Series, the season will demand everything from her: endurance, adaptability, and resilience. But just as importantly, she remains grounded in what brought her to the sport in the first place. The process. The environment. The pursuit of improvement.

More Than a Result
Maaike Coljé represents a new generation of gravel athlete. Technically aware. Thoughtful in approach. Driven not only by results, but by the pursuit of becoming more complete with every ride. At Reynolds, that is exactly the kind of athlete we believe in. Because true performance is not defined by a single moment. It is built over time. And Maaike Coljé is just getting started.
