AON, ENDURO and SLOVENIAN TRAILS on GMBN
Slovenia, Seen Through a Different Lens
In GMBN’s recent Slovenian backcountry adventure, the crew got a reminder of what makes the country such a special riding destination. Slovenia is known for its lakes, mountains, caves, and culture, but as the video makes clear, it is also home to some of the most varied and compelling mountain biking anywhere in Europe. Across two days of riding, the GMBN team experienced everything from loose natural singletrack and rooty woods to ridgelines, mine-country descents, and one of the wildest zipline transfers imaginable. What stood out most was the sheer diversity of the terrain in such a compact area, with local guide Anej explaining how metamorphic, sedimentary, and magmatic rock all come together to create trail surfaces that change constantly from one zone to the next.

That natural variety is exactly what makes Slovenia such a fitting home for Vid Peršak, AON Racing enduro athlete and one of the country’s most accomplished gravity racers. Midway through the video, Vid joins the ride and guides GMBN onto trails built by him, his brother, and friends on the hillsides around his home. The result is a deeper look into the kind of riding that shaped him: steep, loose, rooty, natural singletrack, far from polished bike-park lines and full of the sort of terrain that rewards commitment, precision, and local knowledge. Watching Vid disappear down his home trails is a reminder that world-class racing speed is almost always built on world-class local terrain.

It is also a reminder of the level of equipment required to thrive there. Vid races the Enduro World Series aboard his Nicolai enduro bike, equipped with Reynolds BL 309/307 enduro wheels, and that setup is no showroom exercise. It is a true race machine built to withstand the demands of the highest level of international competition, then return home and keep doing battle on the same kind of rugged, technical terrain that made him the rider he is. That connection between home trails and world-level racing is what makes the GMBN feature especially relevant to Reynolds. The trails in the video are not just scenic. They are a proving ground.

Over the course of an entire EWS season, Vid’s Reynolds wheels have stood up to the brutal reality of elite enduro racing without issue. That means surviving not only the beautiful but unforgiving terrain of Slovenia, but also the demanding conditions, impacts, weather, and race intensity that define a full world-series campaign. For Reynolds, that kind of durability is the point. Performance means little if it fades when the riding gets rough. What matters is repeatable speed, precision, and integrity, ride after ride, race after race. Vid’s setup is a clear example of that philosophy in action.

The GMBN video captures the soul of Slovenian riding beautifully, but it also highlights something deeper: when a rider like Vid Peršak trusts Reynolds wheels on the same trails he grew up on and throughout an entire season of EWS competition, that trust has been earned. From the backwoods loam of his home hills to the sharp end of world-level enduro, Reynolds wheels continue to deliver the strength, control, and reliability that serious riding demands.
